Senior Accountant

Position Summary:
The Accountant/Senior Accountant’s primary role is to support the accounting/finance function by performing general day-to-day accounting and financial duties. This role will report to the Accounting Manager.
Responsibilities:
- Participate in aspects of the monthly, quarterly and year-end close processes including the preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Ensure accuracy of accounting records in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), company policies and procedures
- Coordinate the processing of invoices for payment, including 3-way matching, account coding, data entry, required approvals and enter corresponding payments
- Process expense reporting and reconcile all corporate credit card activity
- Calculate accruals based on percentage of completion for various purchase orders and enter journal entries as needed
- Assist with information requests related to the year-end audit
- Assist with special ad-hoc projects, research, and supplemental reporting as needed
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience in operational accounting, previous experience in a biotechnology or pharmaceutical company is a plus
- Knowledge of US GAAP; familiarity with Sarbanes-Oxley internal controls requirements is a plus
- Experience working with senior level managers, exercising professionalism and discretion
- Capable of operating in a fast-paced environment, able to handle pressure well, be self-motivated and detail-oriented.
- Experience, knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and ERP systems
- Experience in public accounting is a plus
